Chris Mitchell, PCC

Leadership Coach | Business Mentor | ADHD Specialist

I’m Chris, a coach, mentor and ADHD specialist.

But this wasn’t always the case. How does someone who was so corporate his brother nicknamed him “Clean Shirt Chris” end up running his own business, focused on helping others?

I was all about following the traditional path of success. Complete your A-levels, go to university, get a corporate job in an office with "manager" in the title, get yourself a Tesla.
I thought this was SUCCESS. Everyone else was doing it, and it was what my parents expected.

The thing was, I always felt like something was missing. I would walk around the office corridors, frustrated. I’d wake each morning asking myself the question, “Is this really it?” I could never square the circle that all my effort was to help billionaire business owners make more money, working out strategies to sell more things to people who didn't really need them.

I couldn't stand the idea of being contractually obliged to create another nice-looking PowerPoint that would end up on a SharePoint, never to be seen again.

It felt meaningless.

The final straw came when I was asked to develop a new and innovative pet care strategy to sell more (sigh) dog and cat food. Pets are great. Making my way to work, pretending to be inspired by pet food, was not.

I knew I had to do something, but what?!

By chance I had gone back to university to do a coaching accreditation to help me be a better strategy manager. My logic was, if I can influence people better, I will get promoted. What I found out was that I loved listening to people, giving them space, challenging them to think again. I felt fulfilled, helping other people. It wasn’t a clichéd light bulb moment, more like a thought of “maybe I could do this full time?”

With my beautiful pet food slides neatly filed on the SharePoint, because the approving manager wanted to “de-hydrate” the project for now (yes, they actually said this). I knew my moment had come.

It wasn’t easy. There were tears. I felt real fear. But I had to try. I decided to take a leap.

Fast forward 5 years, now I coach and mentor aspiring corporate leaders, the founders and owners of their own businesses and, as an ADHD specialist, neurodivergent professionals. I sit on the board of a mental health diagnostics clinic as a Non-Executive Director. And, more importantly, work the way I want, doing work that I feel is meaningful, making a positive difference to people

A bit about me and how I got here.
